ABOUT US

Founded in 2023 by conductor Yoel Gamzou, oneMusic is an international collective of like-minded musicians, united in their commitment to creating a vibrant, sustainable future for classical music. Our conviction is that an art form can only have a future if its contemporary output is as relevant as its traditional canon. Our founding principle is to commission new music that touches and inspires a modern audience, as opposed to the last decades of contemporary classical music, in which we have largely alienated our listeners. Our musicians are drawn together from some of the world’s best soloists, orchestra and chamber musicians, who work across multiple genres, and look for a more versatile output than what is currently offered by the traditional classical music industry. We are striving to create a future where classical music has a growing, vibrant, and sustainable audience, by forging a bridge between, or even a hybrid of genres, and concert formats.

oneMusic has its inaugural residency at Beethovenfest Bonn in September 2023, where the multiple programmes will include commissions from five composers from diverse musical backgrounds. These new offerings are programmed alongside universally beloved pieces, including Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, as we are committed to a 50/50 principle between old and new music in every programme. Future plans include further residencies across Europe, often in unexpected venues or locations.

OUR MISSION

CREATION

A composer must be a result of and a voice for their time, rather than an artifact in an inaccessible elitist museum. The future of Classical Music is dependent upon a commitment to creation of new work that is a product our audience actively wants to consume.

NEW VOICES

The importance of commissioning works from composers from diverse musical backgrounds cannot be overstated. We combine centuries of tradition and skill, with the richness and diversity of nowadays' versatile spectrum of musical languages, instruments, and styles. We actively seek to discover composers otherwise neglected or overlooked by the traditional industry and scouting channels.

RECREATION

A central part of our mission is the reproduction and reinterpretation of the rich, timeless work comprising the existing canon. We believe that relevant new music makes one listen to the old masters with fresh and vital perspective, adding a new dimension to the existing canon. We are committed to a 50/50 principle of existing masterpieces and new commissions in every concert.

EXCELLENCE

We are committed to the performance and creation of music at the very highest level possible, with members of the collective comprising top orchestras and soloists internationally. The quality of the product we offer in a competitive market is paramount.

AUDIENCE

Our belief is that music, and therefore our output, is only relevant when it is in dialogue with its audience, in its authenticity and quality. We actively aim to both provoke and entertain our audiences. We are striving to build and maintain an audience who actively seek our output, rather than it being imposed in a didactic manner.
